The Trusty Hammer
Type Blacksmith
Location Fairhaven, Joriah
Owner Thane Ironheart

Location

The Trusty Hammer is located within the market in the center of town, hard to miss with the smoke coming off the furnace and the rhythmic ringing of a hammer upon metal, echoing through the village.

Atmosphere and Appearance

The blacksmith is not in an enclosed building like the surrounding shops, appears as a faded red tiled roof and ceiling held up by numerous pillars, one at each corner and a few underneath for support. There is a large reinforced metal sheet that are lifted horizontal on each side to open the shop up and allow airflow, but can be released and brought down to lock up the forge during the night.

Under the covered area is a forge, several anvils and an array of metalworking tools across several tables, everything a blacksmith could need in their line of work. The building is open to invite people to watch and learn, or at least feel welcome to make their requests or pick from the various displays of tools, weapons and horseshoes.

Staff

Thane Ironheart, a powerfully built dwarf in his later years with a silver-streaked black hair braided with metal rings and beads, his beard has been singed short over the years. Calloused hands and forearms marked with old burn scars show the years and years of practice in his craft and he is proud of it, he will never sell anything that isn't his best work. He can seem a bit gruff and grumpy, but is incredibly gentle, especially with apprentices or first timers interested in blacksmithing. He's been learning the trade since he was little from his father, who passed down his hammer to Thane when he passed.
