Location

The Pearl and Compass is located in Tarrinport, Joriah amongst the town proper, away from the shore but stands up towards the cliffs, facing the ocean. The ornate balustrades and pristine limestone walls make this inn easy to locate as a place of luxury meals and accommodation with refined maritime details.

Atmosphere and Appearance

This impressive, three story building is built from imported white limestone with an elegant blue-painted trim, the upper levels boasting spectacular unobstructed ocean views. Brass ship lanterns hang from a pristine portico, while perfectly manicured flower boxes filled with sea lavender and coastal roses line the building's frontage. A bronze statue of a beautiful siren sits atop the portico, her tail hanging off the side and a mother of pearl necklace that catches the light, bringing patrons like a siren's song.

Inside leads into a grand foyer with polished marble floors with a siren set into the stone by carved precious gems, a front desk stands in the center carved from the same marble with twin grand staircases leading the second floor on either side. Heading to the left is the Compass Rose Bar, a grandiose mahogany semicircle bar selling elegant drinks and cocktails with ornate seating both at the bar and at a few glass tables. To the right at the foyer is the The Chart Room Restaurant where patrons can partake in several course meals of their choosing under a chandelier depicting constellations used to navigate on the sea, maritime artwork and navigation charts decorating the walls.

Also contains a library specializing in maritime history, research and navigation, an office for the owner and a crow's nest observation deck/private dining area.

Staff

Lady Cordelia Tidewater, an elegant human female in her early 40s with silver streaked auburn hair, typically arranged in an elaborate up-do secured with pearl-tipped pins. She dresses in fine but practical clothing, silk blouses with pearl buttons and well-tailored pants and always wearing her captain's compass pendant. She carries herself with the air of someone who has lived in wealth her whole life, but her hands bear the callouses of someone who has spent years working with ropes and rigging. Former Captain of a merchant vessel who retired after an altercation with pirates and used her amassed wealth to open the finest inn on the coast however her need for quality never faded.

Reginald Brightwater, an uptight human male in his 50s with short, salt and pepper hair he is impeccably dressed at all times with perfect posture and discipline. He is Cordelia's distant cousin and manages the daily operations of this location with military precision, being a former navy quartermaster. He knows when anyone worth anything comes to town and ensures their stay is as impeccable as the establishment for which he works. He is the one to speak to if you want to utilise any of the locations additional services.

Chef Marcel Applebottom, a renowned male halfling chef in his 40s, he his light green hair usually tied back and hidden under his chef's hat and a large burn mark across his cheek that he will only describe as "proof of his dedication to his craft". He has trained in five different kingdoms and specialises in fusion cuisine combining land and sea traditions and edible artistic masterpieces using sugar and a bit of magic. He usually has a few apprentices working with him, but he is not the easiest teacher and many give up after only a season or two.
