Location
The Salty Anchor is easily found right by the docks in Tarrinport, Joriah, easily spotted by sailors and merchants before their boats have even docked. They use broken and thrown away boat accessories and equipment to decorate the salt-stained wood and draw the attention of their demographic - workers and sailors in need of warmth and a drink.
Atmosphere and Appearance
This weathered and salt-crusted two story building is covered in old ship parts and accessories to decorate the exterior, there is rope rigging on the walls, ship wheels and anchors decorating the door and roof, even part of broken mast is adhered to the back of the building, sails flapping in the wind. There is a worn bench out the front by the door built from the original owner's ship, often occupied by a drunk sailor napping in the daylight before their next job, with old faded sails covering round, porthole windows.
The interior has low beams across the ceiling with marine artifacts hanging from netting and ropes for decoration, a few chandeliers made from ships wheels light up the room and an enchanted anchor hangs behind the bar, glowing like moonlight. The smell of salt from the ocean is only slightly overpowered by the smell of warm stew cooking in the kitchen with a crowd of boisterous sailors of all ages drinking at all hours. The tables and chairs all show sign of significant age and repairs, some tables are just ship hatches with wooden legs attached and there is a thick layer of sand on the floor that the staff claim is for absorbing spilled drinks.
Staff
Captain "Salty Pete" Seaheart, a grizzled human male in his 60s, bald with a large grey beard that's tied at the bottom just below his shoulders, he has a wooden leg and countless tattoos on his aged, tanned skin telling his life story. He retired after "one storm too many" but still spins tales of sea monsters and distant shores for his patrons, encouraging lively conversations and occasionally an overzealous competition. Pete took over the tavern from the previous captain, who took over from the previous captain, who built the tavern from his wrecked ship and named the tavern after it.
"Barnacle Betty" Saltspray, a human female in her 40s with weathered hands and a strong voice that can cut through any storm, she has dark brown hair with more streaks of grey than you'd expect for her age that she keeps tied back and out of her face. She is a former sailor's wife who knows every shanty and myth about the sea and a knack for spotting trouble, deftly handling it with a wooden spoon. She is the main bartender and server, often treating young sailors like wayward children in need of feeding.
"Seashell" Coral Tidecook, a older female tortle with a sea-green shell decorated with naturally embedded barnacles and small coral growths, her wrinkled face bears the weathered look of decades spent near salt spray and bright sun with a massive stained apron over simple clothes, with a few scorch marks across both the fabric and her skin after being the chef for years now. She will often provide wisdom in the form of cooking metaphors and will feed anyone who looks hungry, ask questions later.
