Atmosphere and Appearance
This substantial, two-story building occupies a corner lot, made from expertly fitted grey stone blocks and dark iron accents that frame the windows and door, and reinforce corners, creating subtle, geometric patterns that catch the eye of those who appreciate a quiet details. Jutting out over the sidewalk from a wrought iron bracket is a teapot made from bent metal, painted in a forest green with bronze highlights, with raised stone flower beds out the front on either side of the door and around the corner with some well-maintained herbs and various seasonal flowers. A wrought iron bench is positioned around the corner for people just in need of a pause or a quick drink.
Inside is designed for comfort, quality without unnecessary bells and whistles. A large hearth dominates one end of the room, crackling away with several well-worn leather armchairs and foot stools positioned to catch the fire's warmth and allow patrons to stretch out and relax. Simple iron candle holders hang from the ceiling and decorate tables, providing a comforting light for patrons, with brighter lights near the bar and main tables and moodier, darker corners by the booth alcoves. A harp stands in a corner with silver strings being plucked by invisible hands, adjusting to the mood of the bar with ease and accepting requests in the form of softly hummed melodies that it will match and continue to play. The large bar runs along most of one wall, crafted from dark wood with matching high stools standing along the full length and well stocked shelves display the extensive collection of alcohol, teas, special ingredients and glassware.
The second floor contains 8 rooms available, attached to a narrow hallway that runs the length of the building with matching iron candle holders mounted on the walls at regular intervals and small alcoves that hold fresh flowers from the garden beds below. There is a covered balcony that runs along the back of the building, accessible to all guests from the second floor; furnished with simple wooden benches and small tables, it offers a quiet space for morning tea or evening reflection with hanging planters with trailing herbs create natural privacy screens between seating areas. Another door leads to a shared bathing room with a large raised bath kept hot that can fit 6-7 people. Elara's bedroom is located at the end of the hall, composed of a sitting room that is also utilised as a study with a small fireplace, a carefully organised and shelves lined with many books on herbs, city history and business management.
